Folding chair is less than an inch thick

The entire thing is apparently made from birch veneer plywood, so it's probably not all that expensive. No word on whether these will be produced and sold to the public, though. You could probably make one yourself, though, if you had the wherewithall.

These would work really well for businesses, churches, and events where a bunch of folding chairs were needed but space was limited.

The Mini Mulberry Pendant (for Monorail) features a round fabric shade, an internal glass diffuser that produces glare-free lighting, and a metal detail.

Media Cabinet

Flat-screen TVs were supposed to eliminate the need for media storage, but somehow the market seems more saturated than ever with consoles and cabinets. There are plenty of new-fangled glass and metal creations for you Mies enthusiasts, but fans of Ross Lovegrove are woefully short on tasteful choices. BDI’s Marina model should do the trick, mixing mid-century lines with a forward-thinking high-gloss finish.

Table Lamp

Here’s a lamp that looks like an upside-down industrial bucket. Bague by Patricia Urquiola and Eliana Gerotto has a silicon-coated metallic wire mesh that diffuses the light from its incandescent bulb. Available in three sizes, and in a white or aluminum finish.

Amazonas Side Table

The Amazonas table by Finnish designer Eero Koivisto is as pleasingly irregular as the towering trees they’re based on. Koivisto came up with the scheme after viewing aerial photos of the rainforest, and the two-tiered table’s five obliquely angled legs are meant to reflect the crooked tangle of tree trunks. The table is made of green lacquered steel and comes in sets of three.

Poggenpohls Dining Desk

Here's an excellent high end idea that we'd love to see brought down in scale and price for us small space dwellers: Poggenpohl's Dining Desk incorporates two slim dining tables that open to reveal a central kitchen unit that includes customizable options hidden away, such as a cooking element, a cutting board, and trolly access. It's like a modernist Benihana teppan setup for the home, but makes perfect sense for easy and compact dining.

Urban Glass House, Soho, New York, Philip Johnson and Alan Ritchie

Is a modernist residence the latest luxury accessory of the rich and famous? Judging from the brisk sales of units at The Urban Glass House, a new, luxury condominium project located in Soho New York designed by Philip Johnson and Alan Ritchie, one would think so. The 11 storey 40-unit project, which is ready for occupancy in 2007, is 80% presold. And the penthouse unit set a record for the neighbourhood. No small feat given that real estate market has cooled and that the units here are pricey, ranging from 1.6 to 12.5 million dollars.
